Learn about Oceans West Adventures, where a love for the ocean and a passion for creating unforgettable experiences come together. From whale-watching to fishing charters, our story is all about sharing the beauty of Ucluelet, Barkley Sound, and the Broken Group Islands with every guest.
I have the privilege of working in what is arguably one of the best offices anywhere. The awe-inspiring local waters and rugged coastline create a truly unparalleled setting. Pair that with one of the most consistent Chinook and Halibut fisheries on the west coast, and Ucluelet becomes nearly impossible to beat.
My career began guiding along the northwestern tip of Canada. Gradually, I worked my way down the coast, making a brief stop in Tofino before settling in the charming town of Ucluelet. Since making Ucluelet my home in 2013, I’ve guided the waters surrounding the Pacific Rim, embracing everything this incredible region has to offer.
With over 1,500 shifts logged on the water since starting this journey in 2008, the ocean has taught me more than I could have ever imagined. As my life has evolved, so has my appreciation for time spent on the water. Sharing my passion for the fishery and marine environment with my guests—and my young family—continues to be a source of great joy. When I’m not chartering, you’ll most likely find me fishing or adventuring year-round with my boys.
In today’s world, time is our most valuable asset. Much preparation goes into every season to ensure each trip has a solid foundation for success. I’m truly honored by those who trust me with their time and step aboard for an unforgettable experience.
At Pacific Rim Ocean Adventures, we believe every journey into the waters of Vancouver Island is an opportunity to create lifelong memories. Since 2009, we’ve been proud to offer world-class fishing charters and wildlife tours that showcase the incredible beauty and abundance of the Pacific Northwest.
In 2013, we made Ucluelet our home—a gateway to some of the richest fishing grounds and most awe-inspiring marine wildlife on the coast. Specializing in multi-day fishing charters, we provide anglers the chance to reel in trophy salmon, halibut, and more. For those seeking to connect with nature, our wildlife tours offer unforgettable encounters with whales, sea lions, and other amazing creatures that call these waters home.
Every trip is guided by our unwavering commitment to safety, sustainability, and exceptional service. With years of local expertise and a passion for the ocean, we ensure each guest experiences the best of Ucluelet—whether it’s the thrill of a catch or the wonder of watching nature unfold.
Join us this season to explore the waters of Ucluelet. Whether fishing for adventure or seeking wildlife encounters, your journey with us will be one to remember.
Meet the passionate individuals who make every adventure unforgettable. Committed to excellence, our team is here to ensure you experience the very best of Vancouver Island.
Born and raised in Ucluelet, I grew up on the water, fishing and assisting with my grandfather’s wildlife tours. I’m proud of my hometown and love sharing its beauty with visitors.
Ucluelet is a beautiful place with endless opportunities for adventure. From a young age, I knew I wanted to work on the water. In 2021, I completed my seamanship courses and began guiding fishing charters and whale-watching tours.
Now in my third year of guiding charters out of my hometown, I’m excited to welcome guests for another fun and productive season on the water. Rest assured, when you book a trip with me, you’ll have a safe, knowledgeable, and confident guide at the helm.
I look forward to sharing the seas with you!
You’re unlikely to find a guide more excited to take you fishing than Luke. At 40, he has the enthusiasm of an 8-year-old on Christmas morning every single day he gets up for a charter.
Luke’s fun and positive personality is undeniable. Growing up, he spent his summers in Sooke on southern Vancouver Island, where his family owned a boat, and he inevitably caught the fishing bug.
After college, Luke and his wife moved to Ucluelet in 2012. He took a job as a deckhand at the Canadian Princess Fishing Resort, which quickly sidetracked him from any other career aspirations. Luke realized there was nowhere he’d rather be than running a charter boat.
For a decade, Luke guided in Ucluelet before moving on to a more conventional career and family life in the Comox Valley. Thankfully, he missed us—and the water—enough to return in 2024 to guide part-time through the season.
We’d like to thank Sarah, Luke’s wonderful wife, for lending us Luke for parts of the summer!
Get ready for an unforgettable experience! Whether it’s whale-watching, wildlife tours, or fishing trips, we’re here to help you create the perfect adventure in Ucluelet.
