Before You Book
Do I need a fishing licence?
Yes! All guests are required to purchase a tidal water fishing license. A parent or guardian may obtain a license for a guest under the age of 16. Please click here to obtain your tidal water fishing license.
How much does a tidal water fishing licence cost?

What happens with our catch?
The Majority of our guests fish goes through the local processor. Your catch is cleaned by your guide prior to going to Ukee Seafood and Fishpak. They will fillet, portioned to guest specification, vacuum pack, then freeze your catch and hold onto it until you are ready to pickup. They can provide airline approved flight packs for those traveling by air, or you're welcome to bring a cooler for those driving. Some folks choose to have their fish smoked and shipped to their home. Occasionally a guest will take their catch head and gut on ice to smoke or process on their own terms.
Preparing For Your Trip
What should I wear?
We recommend dressing for the weather; Depending on the time of the year, the requirements may differ. You can always pack layers and not wear them but you can't get that sweater you considered bringing once you're out there.... Our Captain is happy to make recommendations during booking depending on the season.
I am worried about sea sickness, is there anything I can do to prepare?
Most pharmacies will offer sea sickness aids, we recommend talking to your pharmacist before your trip. Your guide can often offer a calm water fishing option in the case of swell offshore.
Can I bring food or drinks?
Absolutely, we have a cooler specifically for our guests and encourage you to bring snacks.
Do I need fishing gear?
We provide all the gear and bait. We fish Islander TR3 and Mr3 single action reels for trolling. Accurate, Shimano two speed reels, and Shimano Trevala rods for Halibut and Tuna.
Is there anything else I should bring?
We recommend bringing a cooler for your catch if driving back, a hat and sunglasses, sunscreen, a light jacket, pants, a camera, and closed toes shoes.
Where should I park?
A large parking lot on Hemlock Rd is at the top of the dock. find a spot, parking is free.
Where is the harbour?
Look for the Floathouse Restaurant! We are located in the Small Craft Harbour, the main access is the ramp to the left of the restaurant ramp. You will find us a 100 yards down the main dock on your right.
Guest Safety
How do you keep guests safe on the water?
Our boats carry all required Transport Canada safety gear. As our Northwest is on the water through the winter and outfitted for blue water, we carry the a safety kit exceeding standards: House mounted Transport Canada-certified liferaft with a hydrostatic release, registered MMSI, Mcmurdo EPIRB, and all basic transport Canada-mandated safety equipment.
What credentials does the captain have?
Scott is a CTAG (Certified Tidal Angling Guide) and a WCFGA (West Coast Fishing Guides Association) member.
Getting Your Catch Home

We are always happy to run a fillet knife through a dinner fish for your crew to enjoy at days end, however the majority of our guests fish goes through the local processor. How long does it take to have our catch proccesed?
local providers custom cut and vacuum pack your fish with an overnight turnaround (same day can be arranged although it will not be frozen for same day pickup). This is generally the best option for all processing however talk to Scott concerning your specific needs.
Can I have my catch smoked or canned?
For guests that would like their fish processed and shipped, St. Jean's provides options for smoking, canning or vacuuming packing. St. Jean's has an affiliate drop-off located in Ucluelet. You can visit their website for more information by clicking here.
